What a fantastic start to the Summer Term!

10th - 11th May the whole group were invited to Brownsea Island, the birthplace of Scouts for a very special adventure. Explorers, Scouts and the oldest Cubs camped on the very site that Lord Baden-Powell had his first experimental camp in 1907. Explorers kayaked over from the mainland and the Scouts took turns over the following day to have their time on the water. The camp was set up with hammocks and tents and an evening walk was topped of by a stunning sunset experience on the shoreline.

On Sunday the Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Skip John Curtis caught the ferry to join them. The Beavers and Squirrels enjoyed a nature walk to the campsite while the Cubs focused on their photography skills, trying to capture the best the island had to offer.

The whole group met on the beach after lunch and finished the Woodcutts land artwork made from pieces of pottery from the old pottery site, then it was up to the Scout Stone where our new members were invested, our leaders received their awards and we all renewed our Scout promise.

We wandered back to the ferry in the beautiful sunshine and were back home in time for dinner. What an amazing weekend!
