During the first May Bank Holiday 170 members of Woodcutts Scout Group had a fantastic three days of fun, friendship and adventure at Buddens Scout Centre, near Wareham. This was our 5th Family Camp and was simply the best one yet!

From the moment the families arrived on the Saturday morning until they left on the Monday afternoon , there was action packed activities throughout the site. There was kayaking, stand up paddle boarding and dragon boating on the lake. In the woods there was shelter building, fire making, whittling, tree climbing, slack lining and back woods cooking. On the range there was air rifle, archery and ancient spear throwing. Venture just a little further and there was climbing, geocaching and pot holing. Back near the base was rocket making, craft and rope making. Saturday night was bingo in the main tent and outdoor cinema. On the Sunday night was another legendary Woodcutts campfire (complete with fancy dress from the 1970's and 80's) and then back to Xanthe's science tent for the after party and glow in the dark craft.

During the weekend the campers were joined by past members and friend of Woodcutts, along with the District Commissioner and representatives from Dorset County Scouts. Even Badger had a crack at pothoiling whilst he was there.

The weekend was made possible by the fantastic group of volunteers who worked tirelessly to bring it all together. It was particularly pleasing to have many members of Woodcutts Active Support Unit running bases and supporting throughout.

Plans are already being made for Family Camp 2019, we hope to see you there.
