Exciting News

Following on from our decision to try to expand Scouting in our area and the very successful recruitment drive for new Leaders, we can announce introduction of new groups starting in June

The following groups start from the first week
of June:

  • a second Beaver Colony on Tuesdays from 5.00 to 6.00 pm under the leadership of Zoe Preedy
  • a second Cub Pack on Mondays from 5.30 to 7.00 pm under the leadership of Andy Young
  • a second Scout Troop on Tuesdays from 7.00 to 9.00 pm under the leadership of Rob Easton The existing three sections will continue as normal except that Martin Russell will assume leadership of the Monday evening Scout Troop with slightly adjusted timings of 7.15 to 9.15 pm.

And, some more exciting news: a number of Explorers are coming to the time when they have reached the age to leave but have decided that they wish to continue their Scouting experience by establishing a Scout Network section (for 18-24 year olds). It seems that this will be a first for East Dorset.

In sum, no more saying to applicants that we are full; I am pleased to report that we now have no restrictions on numbers and will be pleased to accept applications to join Beavers (ages 6-8), Cubs (ages 8-10) and Scouts (ages 10-14), Explorers (ages 14 – 18) and Network (ages 18-24). We will however maintain a waiting list for potential Beavers who are under age.

If you know of any young people interested in joining First Woodcutts, please e-mail me on bmjcurtis@aol.com and I will put you in touch with the relevant Leader. Exciting times for Scouting at First Woodcutts now and in the future, providing young people with Skills for LIFE.

Yours in Scouting,
John Curtis, Group Scout Leader
